American Dimestore #30108 Teardrop Trailer - Silver HP

Here's the companion piece to the American Dimestore #30084 Aero Chief Sound Car Sedan, the Aero Chief Teardrop Trailer. Teardrop trailers, or teardrop camping trailers, first gained popularity in the 1930s when Mechanix Illustrated started publishing plans for small d-it-yourself camping trailers that took advantage of the standard 4' x 8' sheet of plywood. They remained popular until the 1960s when they kind of fizzled out but in the past two decades have made a come back in popularity with many teardrop trailer clubs having been formed throughout the country. The Aero Chief brand is probably fictitious as I could find no references to it other than a line of fire trucks made by American LaFrance, although here is a company called Aero Flite which makes camping trailers, but none appear to be in the classic teardrop design. Enjoy! Opa Fritz and Oma Bettina
